Transbay Block 8 is within the Transbay Redevelopment District, defined by First, Folsom, Fremont and Clementina Streets. Y.A. studio is serving as the Associate Executive Architect in collaboration with OMA, Fougeron Architects, and HKS Architects for the design and execution of the project. The development team includes Related California and Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, with oversight by San Francisco’s Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure. In addition to a major CA role, Y.A. studio worked on the design of retail spaces, communal areas, and the below market rate residential units. The proposal features a 56-story high-rise residential tower with an 85’ mid-rise building, and a 3-level subterranean garage. The project also includes retail components within an “urban living room”. The development includes for sale market rate condominium, market rate rentals, and below market rate rental units.
