The Black Cultural Zone (BCZ) proposes a new 26,000-square-foot Black cultural center and affordable housing development in East Oakland. This project will serve as a new anchor for the community’s cultural and commercial activities that hopes to generate and incubate new locally owned, culturally grounded businesses. In addition to being a new center for black culture to flourish, BCZ will provide 120 affordable units and 20 affordable live/work units for local entrepreneurs and members of the community.
